Sculptural Needle Felting

Vigilary by Stephanie Metz, 2024. Needle-felted wool, 8½" x 9" x 16½".

Learn to use felting needles to shape wool fibers into free-standing felt sculptures. Topics will include basic form-building, fine detailing, adding color, incorporating mixed media, and working with armatures. Studio time will include daily demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, slideshows, and lots of hands-on work. The goal of this workshop is to practice with new techniques for creative problem-solving; the focus is on trying things out and experimenting rather than completing one specific project. Note that needle felting involves repetitive, physical hand and arm exercise. All levels welcome.
