Drawing on the Periphery

For Keeps by Jeremiah Ibarra, 2025. Terra cotta, terra sigillata, majolica, wheel-thrown, vinyl resist, screen printing, water-etching, majolica brushwork, 5¼" x 4½" x 4½".

Ceramics is fixed by its surfaces, and we are continually on a quest for new methods to add extra coats of something special. This workshop is for those eager to incorporate imagery into the outermost layers of their ceramic work. The focus is on a few unconventional processes that involve a third firing, cutting vinyl for greenware goodies, and screenprinting with glaze materials. Participants will leave with a selection of surfaces to play with, fresh ideas, and a few new friends. Previous experience with glazing—an understanding of glazing and screen printing required; workshop not intended for beginners.
