This workshop will explore the dynamic relationship between illustrated typography and the drawn image, primarily focused on the "low-brow" arts of concert posters, comics, outsider art, zines, vernacular advertising, and design. Through drawing games, research, and a ton of hand-drawing, participants can expect to build an understanding of the economy of line and beauty of the funky little drawing. All levels welcome.
Taylor Wright Rushing (he/him) was born in the South Puget Sound of Washington State. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2013 and received an MA and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2019. Rushing moved to Atlanta, GA and opened Not Bad Illustration in 2019. Clients include The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, and Willie Nelson.
