Sand Casting for Hardware + Tools

Participants will cast bronze tools and hardware using sand molds and patterns developed through fabrication, carving, and 3D printing. This workshop introduces the fundamentals of drafting angles and pattern design for split-mold casting, along with the safe handling and pouring of molten bronze. Participants will also explore the use of bonded sand for cores and finishing processes that prepare cast objects for use, installation, or further refinement. All levels welcome.


Eleanor Ingrid Rose (she/her) is an artist and educator whose practice explores material transformation, function, and the language of craft. She received an MFA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a BFA from Pratt Institute, and currently teaches art Jewelry and Metalsmithing in California. Rose has previously taught at the Appalachian Center for Craft and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
