Weaving the Space Between

Hush II by Angie YooJin Kim, 2025. Cotton, nylon, stainless steel, electrical parts, weaving, machine sewing, metal fabrication, 7" x 7" x 15" tall.

What happens when light becomes a thread? This workshop will explore weaving as a study of translucency—using material, structure, tension, and density to understand how fabric can hold and reveal space. Participants will experiment with open, layered constructions that balance strength and fragility, presence and absence. Through exploration and play, weaving becomes a way to shape light itself, finding structure within air and atmosphere. All levels welcome.

Funding for Angie YooJin Kim’s teaching position is provided by the Lenore G. Tawney Faculty Fund for Fiber or Collage.
