For two weeks each spring, volunteers travel to Haystack for “pre-session.” These Haystack friends assist with cleaning, building, and repairing the campus in preparation for the summer sessions. It’s an opportunity to re-kindle old friendships and to create new ones.

Pre-session is held in May. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering, for a day, or for the entire week-any amount of time is helpful! We'll provide room and board and meals in exchange for your help with getting the campus ready for summer.

Other volunteer opportunities arise throughout the year, ranging from preparing mailings and staffing the gallery at the school's Center for Community Programs, to assisting with planning and public relations for events. Another important way of giving, which has recently and greatly benefited the school’s new administrative offices and Center for Community Programs, are Gifts In-Kind. The generous contributions of furniture, equipment, materials, and services have encouraged additional individuals and businesses to donate through in-kind giving as well.

Haystack enjoys the participation in any of these capacities and is grateful for the enthusiasm and support.
