Planned Giving
Providing for Haystack's Future
Planned giving is crucial in providing Haystack with financial stability and in determining the future health of the school. There are many types of planned gifts, ranging from the simple, such as bequests of life insurance, to the more complex, such as charitable remainder trusts. All planned gifts have tax benefits, and planning should occur with professional advice. Donors may specify how the gift is used, whether for programs, scholarships, facilities, or outreach.
In 2004, the Haystack Board of Trustees established the Haystack Circle to thank those who have provided for the school in their estate plans. Circle members are mentioned in school publications, receive special mailings about Haystack programs and events, and will be recognized in various ways throughout the years.
For some of Haystack's donors, ongoing sources of income after retirement are necessary. These donors might consider a charitable gift annuity as their planned gift to the school. Charitable gift annuities enable donors to make a significant gift to Haystack while receiving a fixed stream income for life. The minimum gift amount is $25,000 (in cash or marketable securities) and the minimum age of the annuitant must be 65 years.

“To say thank you for all that is does to make the world a better place for so many, I have decided to include Haystack among my beneficiaries. I know that it changed my life…”
Mary Nyburg (1918- 2006), Haystack Life Trustee
