Haystack Mountain School of Crafts

Our final workshop session of the summer just ended. The week-long session featured workshops taught by Alleghany Meadows (clay) from Colorado; Mary Howe (book arts/ boxes) from Maine; Boyd Sugiki (glass) from Washington; Helen Hiebert (papermaking/ lamps) from Oregon; Jean Stark (metals) from South Carolina; Jacques Vesery (wood) from Maine; and Betsy Sholl (poetry) from Maine.

Pat Kramer (left), helps out in the wood studio as the TA in Jacques Vesery's woodcarving workshop.

Boyd Sugiki and his TA, Cayn Thompson, work together as a team in the first ever 'Tumbler Turny' in the glass shop.

In another role, Cayn Thompson serves up the winning dish of the competition made by 'The Irony Chefs.'

Participants from Session 7 watch the heated competition as four teams of glass blowers faced off in the 'Tumbler Turny' put on by Boyd Sugiki's class.

Students in Helen Hiebert's Illuminated Paper Structures workshop were able to work outside on the decks thanks to the abundance of sunshine all week.

Jean Stark shows examples of work to students during her Loop-in-Loop Chains workshop.
