Haystack Mountain School of Crafts

Donations made to Haystack’s annual fund support the school’s annual operating budget. These funds keep attendance fees affordable, and help ensure that Haystack operates in the “black”, maintaining its leadership role in craft education.

November 2011

Dear Friend,

Haystack is a place that is full of varied light. From the soft light of spring when the trees are budding, to the full summer sun, to the austere light of autumn, the decks, buildings, and forest are bathed in it. Of course there are the days when that light is muted, those days of fog or rain, when the lichen and moss are luminescent, glowing with an inner light.

There is another kind of light at Haystack too, the electric lights of the studios. Nearly every night when we are in session, it beams from the windows. I think of it as a beacon of creativity. And then, when I walk into the studios and see you hard at work, and energized by discovery, it’s as if you are full of light as well.

The studio light and your creativity make a great partnership. You need the studios to work and we need your spirit to make them come alive. It’s the same way with our annual fund. We can’t be a vital institution without your support.

Your gift helps ensure that we can continue to offer dynamic and innovative programs, keep the cost of attending the school affordable, and continue to maintain and improve our award-winning campus. We can’t-- literally or figuratively-- turn the lights on without you.

With best regards,

SK
